Couldn’t didn’t sleep last night...watched a lot of youtube. First off, I love this channel.
Second - motorweek retro reviews are awesome.
And speaking of retro...member these?
I do.

Ah ... the Trek.
When were in Japan on trains, I watched a lot of videos by this guy - it’s soothing to me to watch someone rebuild a fuel pump. https://www.youtube.com/user/Mercedess…

You are so right! The British Pathé material is fantastic. They have a surprising amount of motoring and motorsports footage too.
A rather special machine here (not amphibious though):
The bus is not the only vehicle in the video with a rear hatch:

And how did I miss that Pathe channel?

I think you seriously need a Stolly:
Clip is a bit repetitive, but well worth it for the first 30 secs.

And it is an Alvis!
There seems to be a persistent rumour (or rather barracks legend) that some enterprising individuals in the BAOR (British Army on the Rhine) managed to cross the Channel in one. I suspect fuel consumption would be too high to actually make it to Dover, but who knows.

I love that clip, and a stolly would be super pimp...but finding parts and getting to places wouldn’t be.

True.
Well, there is a very usable four-wheel-drive alternative with floating capability (I suppose you could always fit an outboard at the back?), quite sturdy and well-built - the Porsche Typ 597
Jagdwagen
.
Unfortunately its price nowadays is quite close to that of a Stolly. I heard about one of these changing hands for around 130,000 euro a couple of years ago. And it wasn’t even in very nice condition.
